Rachel SR, MS
GRADUATE MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPY INTERN
Hi, I am Rachel, a Graduate Marriage and Family Therapy Intern at the Center for Relationships, supervised by Dr. Vagdevi Meunier.
I am currently completing my MS in Marriage and Family Therapy, at Capella University in Austin, Texas and also hold a Master of Science in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health from King’s College London.
I value a deeply systemic perspective, which means I pay attention to the relational, historical, cultural, and embodied contexts that influence how people make meaning and connect. My interest in relational neuroscience complements this lens by helping me understand how our bodies carry these relational patterns across time.
I have an interest in working with individuals, couples, and families who want to strengthen connection, navigate relational challenges, and develop new patterns of communication and understanding.
My clinical approach is informed by the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Bowen Family Systems Theory, Narrative Therapy, and the Satir Growth Model and others. I bring systemic thinking together with relational neuroscience and somatic awareness, and I believe that healing happens in connection, within ourselves, in our closest relationships, and across the larger cultural and family systems that shape us.
My personal background deeply influences how I show up in the therapy room. I was born and raised in the United Kingdom in a multiracial, multicultural family, and I am now raising a transnational family of my own. Because of this lived experience, I understand the complexity of identity, migration, acculturation, belonging, and intergenerational and transnational relationships. This helps me hold clients’ stories with depth, openness, and cultural humility while supporting people from all backgrounds who want to understand themselves and their relationships more fully. My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity, emotional safety, and client empowerment.
Outside of the therapy room, I love gathering with family and friends, exploring new places, settling into nature on camping trips, getting lost in a good book, and relaxing with my favorite films and shows.
I am passionate about creating a space where those seeking support individually, in their partnerships, or within their families can feel seen, supported, and connected, and I welcome the opportunity to work with you as you move toward meaningful change.
